Look I know it’s 162 games in 182 days but come on man. Run it out! You’re making 13 million this year hitting .201 on a bad team. This is a head coach issue and a culture problem.
Amazing career! Coach has had a big impact on me. I always tried to emulate and keep up with his programs as a young coach. He was always gracious and available to answer any questions! Very humble and a great baseball mind. Will always appreciate you and very grateful!
A note on what coaches actually evaluate in a 17-year-old.
They are not just watching the swing. They are watching how he handles the dugout in the bottom of the seventh when his team is down four. They are watching whether he runs out the routine grounder. They are watching how he talks to the umpire after a borderline call.
The five tools get him on the list. The sixth tool — character — keeps him there.
There are more than five tools. Always have been.
So very true! I often tell my ex-players I’ve coached throughout the years: The profound gratitude they have, along with the memories they share with me telling me that what I said and did shaped them AND to see them become amazing men of character(husbands, fathers) is my REWARD!
You wanna be a coach?
⚾️ You will feel unappreciated
⚾️ You will have people talk bad about you
⚾️ You will be consumed by the “job”
⚾️ You will have people question your every move
⚾️ You will be taken advantage of
Is it worth it?
Every coach who actually cares about his players and the team culture loves the process and the development. So yeah, it’s worth it in the long run and it’s incredibly rewarding helping young men develop into the people God created them to be… but man, it is really hard sometimes to keep going!
*Coaches: You are needed, you are appreciated, you are important. Keep giving your all!

State Stat Stars & Record Updates.
For baseball, milestone win for Troy's Scott Pearson and one more, who looks like may be state's first ever w .600 above career batting average & many more no-hitters & home run kings.

Troy 4, South Pasadena 3: Troy coach Scott Pearson earned his 600th coaching victory and his son, Jaden, led off the sixth inning with a double and scored the winning run.
1 unselfish AB
can win a game
1 high baseball IQ play
can win a game
1 hustle play
can win a game
1 great base running read
can win a game
….And it could be early in the game!
If you REALLY want to win, dominating the “minor” details leads to “major” W’s!

@johnwdavis@theevoiceof A living legend! Always very kind and classy in our games against each other’s teams, and would make me feel good after our talks, especially when I was a young coach! Thank you Spud and God bless you!
