Continuing steps to make QEH a ‘Stroke excellence centre’ in our 5 year plan.
We will continue to promote amazing Stroke care and leadership in our rural DGH
@sarahftyson@AndyG_OT@bbchealth How long do you believe cognitive stage of motor learning lasts? Why compensate too early by changing the task or environment? Too early and this restricts the patient from attempting to relearn, achieve, complete the task in the same way they completed it prior to their stroke?
@sarahftyson@AndyG_OT@bbchealth Actively practicing functional tasks and repetitive task practice, incorporating both sides of the body, through appropriate therapeutic handling where required.
@AndyG_OT@bbchealth Before they get to this point, the vast majority of stroke patients need therapists with good therapeutic handling to facilitate appropriate movement. Arguably, if this doesn’t happen sufficiently at the acute hospital stage, VR will have little impact at home

**A new role open to AHPs and Nurses**
An exciting opportunity to lead our stroke service including the thrombolysis team, the ward @WestRaynham9 and TIA Clinic, whilst working closely alongside the rehabilitation team.

@BeckRayner@ACPIN_UK I have been trying and failing for some time to get (at least) our senior AHPs to be allowed to disconnect and connect NGs. If you get any information, please do share! We feel that this would be training that would be a time benefit for nursing staff as much as ourselves.
