Izan Merino Alcaide, born on April 15, 2006, in Málaga, Spain, developed entirely within the youth system of his hometown club, Málaga CF. His consistent progress through the academy quickly established him as one of the club’s most promising prospects. Merino made his first significant breakthrough at the age of 17 during the 2023–24 season, when he debuted for Málaga’s first team in Primera Federación, Spain’s third division. His official debut came in the Copa del Rey against Barakaldo CF.
