@CanEmbNL hosted a discussion on the cost of freedom, the legacy of WWII, and the future of #NATO. Just as it stood with Europe in WWII, Canada remains committed to collective defence and the values that bind the Alliance #FacesOfLiberation

UN accountability mechanisms such as #IIIM Syria & #IIMM Myanmar play a key role gathering, preserving, & analyzing evidence that can serve as the foundation for judicial proceedings at both the national and intl levels. Proud to highlight their work at @IntlCrimCourt#ASP23
If you are at #ASP23, join us tomorrow morning for a side event cosponsored by 🇨🇦 on “The value added of United Nations Accountability Mechanisms to judicial processes”.

#NATO exercises make us better prepared to deter any aggression and demonstrate our ability to defend all Allies.
As we wear red poppies over our hearts, we pause to honour the generations of Canadians who have served and defended our country. Today and every day, #CanadaRemembers. Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s statement on #RemembranceDay: https://t.co/6esjIdLr3f
“The news out of Amsterdam last night is horrifying. This is a dark moment for our world — and one we have seen before.
My heart goes out to the victims, and the entire Jewish community today. Canada condemns this disgusting antisemitism.” — Prime Minister Justin Trudeau
I join my fellow Special Envoy Deborah Lipstadt from the US and people of good conscience around the world in expressing disgust and horror at the attacks on Jews in Amsterdam last night. Canadian Jews are watching this unfold as we approach the 86th anniversary of Kristallnacht, adding to the trauma of witnessing what feels like a pogrom in the streets of Europe. It should be no surprise that hate speech and incitement leads to this. Here in Canada the laws must be enforced. Those who incite violence or support terrorism must face legal consequences. Governments at all levels must take seriously the safety and security of Jewish communities. The laws in place to protect targeted communities must be enforced. And none of us can or should tolerate any further escalation against our Jewish and Israeli neighbours.

Canada is concerned with widespread acts of voter intimidation, vote buying and other election day irregularities reported by the OSCE and other impartial observers. This must be investigated and addressed.
