BREAKING: YOU POKED THE BEAR! Rep. Jamie Raskin unleashes a fiery defense of his constituent, the former Olympian who was arrested for allegedly "vandalizing" the Reflecting Pool — and exposes Trump as the real vandal.
This is a brilliant angle...
“Davey Hearn is my constituent, a native-born resident of Montgomery County, a three-time Olympian canoeist, and a famed and celebrated teacher and coach of canoeing and kayaking in our community,” Raskin stated. “He is beloved in my district as a model citizen whether on water or on dry land. He is a great guy.”
The 67-year-old Hearn was arrested last month and indicted by a grand jury (an incredibly easy hurdle to clear). Prosecutors absurdly accused him of "forcefully and violently” tearing up the pool's liner and damaging the sealant. The accusation came as Trump was desperately trying to insist that the hilariously botched renovations were the result of leftist vandals and not the natural consequence of hiring incompetent, crooked contractors to perform the work.
This prosecution is a waste of our time, tax dollars, and a blatant abuse of federal power to help a failed President save face.
"Davey Hearn would never desecrate a federal building or landmark by writing his name on it or affixing his name illegally to it or engaging in any other kind of political graffiti, vandalism or delinquency,” Raskin continued, clearly referring to Trump’s actions. “He would never intentionally damage government property. Whether we are talking about the White House, the Reflecting Pool or the Kennedy Center, Davey would never try to alter, bulldoze or redesign federal property or buildings without explicit Congressional authorization and direction.”
“Davey is an honorable and law-abiding citizen who has won real giant prizes, including eight world championships,” Raskin added. “He did so without any corrupt practices and only through his magnificent hard work and surpassing dedication to the team. He would never try to undercut or sabotage anyone, much less our entire community.”
If he’s found guilty in this ludicrous legal saga, Hearn could face up to 10 years in prison, an absolutely vile miscarriage of justice as Trump, a pedophiliac, war criminal felon continues to walk free.
Please ❤️ and share if you stand with Hearn!
Every American — regardless of political party — should be horrified at yet another blatant effort by President Trump to eradicate every safeguard of free and fair elections.
If Republicans remain silent in the face of his obvious attempts to rig the election, they are complicit in allowing our democracy to crumble.
#BREAKING: Lawrence: “…here is what the most incoherent person who has ever attended a NATO summit with a speaking part said today about his deranged obsession with Greenland: [Trump: ‘…Greenland…should be controlled by the United States, not by Denmark, and when they wouldn’t go along with it, and with all the money we spend to help them with Russia, and we don’t have to spend any money, we could remove all of our soldiers out of Europe because as you probably noticed, Europe’s a very different place than it was 20 years ago, a lot different, much different…and they better be careful with immigration and energy. If they’re not careful with those two things, you’re not gonna have a Europe anymore’]. You’re not going to have a Europe anymore. That’s what Donald Trump told Europe Today. Needless to say, and I really do mean needless to say, Europe will still be Europe, LONG after Donald Trump is gone. This is the person who every Republican Senator and every Republican member of the House of Representatives supported in the last presidential election. That’s who they wanted to be president, that’s who they wanted at NATO summits, the breathtakingly stupid guy, stupid enough to say you’re not going to have a Europe anymore.”😳😂
Q: You've called for repealing women's right to vote, which is protected by the 19th Amendment. Why?
Pete Hegseth's Pastor, Doug Wilson: Because it's a good idea. A lot of women wouldn't agree. I don't want women voting as individuals
I spoke to my good friend Mitch and he is doing great he even was able to create this great video during our FaceTime.
Not sure why we thought he was hurt 😂
And just like that, everybody stopped talking about Jeffrey Epstein.
Epstein's private plane.
Four young girls.
Donald Trump.
Why isn't this being talked about anymore?
Epstein.
Epstein.
Epstein.
In 2005, David Beckham opened his football academy in Greenwich, London.
Among the young footballers there that day was an 11 year old boy named Harry Kane.
Standing beside him was Katie Goodland, a girl he had known since their school days in East London.
They posed for a photograph with Beckham.
At the time, it was simply a picture of two children meeting one of England's biggest football stars.
Harry and Katie could never have known what the next two decades would bring.
The childhood friends grew closer, began dating as teenagers, and built a life together.
Harry kept chasing football.
He rose through Tottenham's academy, endured loan spells, fought for his place, and eventually became one of the greatest goalscorers England has ever produced.
In 2018, he captained England at the World Cup and won the Golden Boot.
In 2023, he broke Wayne Rooney's record to become England men's all time leading goalscorer.
And the girl standing beside him in that old photograph stayed beside him through the journey.
Harry proposed to Katie in 2017.
They married in June 2019 and went on to build a family together, becoming parents to four children.
Years after that photograph was taken, Harry even joked that Beckham was probably Katie's childhood crush.
But life had written a different story.
The boy who once stood beside his football hero became England captain.
And the girl standing next to him became his wife.
Sometimes, an ordinary photograph is only ordinary because we haven't seen the future yet
All the signals are flashing red, the latest being @POTUS's summary dismissal of the remaining Federal Election Assistance Commission members.
Put that together with political hack Pulte's odious appt as DNI; election deniers in the most sensitive oversight positions; Trump's exec order on mail-in voting, and potential use of the Postal Service as a weapon of subversion; his pathological prioritization of the SAVE act, which would be the most powerful voter suppression tool in generations; and his persistent, unfounded claims of election fraud, which he uses to justify extraordinary federal interventions.
On the square, the @GOP would take a beating this fall, largely because of Trump's unpopularity.
So he's setting up Plan B--do whatever you need to do to win. Anything.
Anyone who says "Well, he wouldn't do THAT" hasn't paid attention. He's already proven he will!
So the period AFTER the Midterms may be even more turbulent than the run up to them.
The courts are going to be very busy this fall.
Nichols: It’s almost like we have a relative in the room, and there’s something deeply wrong with him. And we’ve all agreed not to talk about it. But there is something deeply wrong with him.
His friends know it, his critics know it. His staff, I’m sure, knows it. The world knows it. World leaders know it. And most importantly, our enemies know it, which is why they don’t take him seriously.
Nobody hangs on his words. They kind of do, but mostly out of freakish curiosity to see what kind of wild thing he’s going to say next, not because his words have any inherent meaning or reflect policy.
You know, I spent years teaching students that when the president speaks, it’s policy, and you must pay attention when the president speaks because nobody can contradict him.
Now, you know, are we really cutting off all trade with Spain? Who knows? Maybe. Maybe not. It might have just been a stray electron, you know, careening around inside his brainpan. Who knows?
But this is really dangerous because in the middle of all this stuff—and we can laugh about, you know, the Islamic Republic of Japan and all of that—but he made several statements about an ongoing war that the United States is losing. And no one’s even trying to pretend that they can make any sense of it.
And I’ll just add one last thing that you just brought up.
If this were any other president, this would be a national crisis. I mean, Joe Biden got somebody’s name wrong, and it was headlines. The president gets all kinds of things wrong, completely, you know, is out to lunch at an important NATO summit, and, you know, it’s Wednesday.
@RewildScotland Only the most callous and unfeeling person would consider his daddy the real victim of a mass shooting tragedy…..because he had to relinquish his pistols.
🚨🗣️ José Mourinho on the Repeated Argentina World Cup Controversies
"I look at what happened with the Folarin Balogun red card being magically suspended after politics got involved, and I look at how Egypt was completely robbed in the Round of 16 against them, and I just have to smile. All of this started in the very first week of the tournament when Lionel Messi was allowed to escape a clear red card against Algeria. When you set a precedent that the rules do not apply to certain teams, you lose all control. We are seeing it match after match. It is a recurring script."
"Some people are calling it a scandal, but a scandal is something unexpected. For me? This is just normal now. We witnessed the system protecting them throughout the group stages, we saw it against Cape Verde, and we saw it again when Mohamed Salah was denied a clear penalty while Cristian Romero stayed on the pitch after a horrific tackle. You can put the tournament in America, in Mexico, in Canada, it doesn't matter. The geographic location changes, but the hands pulling the strings stay exactly the same. It is a cinematic production."
"If you are a smaller nation playing in this World Cup, you have to accept that you start the match 1-0 down before a ball is even kicked. Egypt played beautiful football, they went 2-0 up, and they still couldn't win because you cannot defeat a referee who is determined to look the other way. When VAR can rewind the play from five minutes ago just to disallow an Egyptian goal, but refuses to check a blatant foul on Salah in the 93rd minute, the game is dead. The integrity is completely gone."
🚨 José Mourinho on Argentina vs. Egypt:
“This is daylight robbery. It’s a shame what football is becoming. How do you let the play continue, allow the goal to be scored, and only then decide to go back and cancel it? If there was a foul, stop the game immediately. Don’t wait until after the goal.
Then I ask another question—why wasn’t Argentina’s first goal reviewed with the same attention when it looked very close to offside? Why was every incident involving Argentina checked, while Egypt didn’t seem to get the same treatment?
VAR is supposed to bring fairness, not confusion. Today, it looked like every important decision went in Argentina’s favour. Football deserves better.”
