The University of Sheffield is trying to close the Department of Archaeology. Lets be real, they are out for blood and it does not look good. We need all of the support we can get. If you are an alumni or a current student, or have any other affiliations with this department..1/4
Wish I could go to @mckeagns talk about More's Utopia at @SCRAMSYORK this afternoon (4:30pm GMT). Excited to hear about your work some other time, Sarah, but everyone else should come and listen!
I gave my first zoom paper & first paper of the postdoc on Friday. A reminder that these things are still possible in this pandemic world. I got great questions & suggestions/idea in response - what a wonderful group of PhDs & ECRs @SCRAMSYORK is!
Can you believe that our CFP deadline is little more than a month away? We can’t wait to hear your thoughts on the medieval self ! Submit your work below 👇

We are thrilled to announce that on 15th March at 5:30pm, Dr Laura Flannigan (@LFlannigan17) will visit the Cabinet for a talk entitled "To the King our Sovereign Lord': How to petition the monarch in early Tudor England'. Sign up for Zoom link here: https://t.co/vQxuJp1O1p
I'll be giving a WIP talk for @SCRAMSYORK / @yorkmedieval on approaching Greenland as a queer utopia on 19 Feb (Friday!) at 5PM GMT. Everyone is welcome! ✨DM me for a link!✨
Thanks to @SCRAMSYORK for having me and my dodgy internet connection! I had great fun talking about how the Hereford Mappa Mundi did the Scythians dirty, with some really interesting questions afterwards

Chris's paper takes the example of the Scythians on the Hereford Mappa Mundi to explore how the map carefully and deliberately emphasized the barbarity of the Scythians, turning a once detailed and nuanced ethnography into a set of savage, one-dimensional stereotypes.
