Urgent search to reunite girl with epilepsy with missing therapy dog
Louie the Golden Retriever slipped his lead near Steall Falls in Glen Nevis on Monday, May 26.
Louie, adopted as a therapy dog for his owner Louise Manson who lives with epilepsy, ran off after slipping his lead near Steall Falls in Glen Nevis on May 26.

Louise has since led an “emotional and tireless” campaign to find her pet, supported by a Facebook group with over 1,200 members.

The search has been backed by volunteers combating vast, rugged terrain after Louise appealed to the public in the hope that someone picked Louie up thinking he was lost or abandoned

#FortWilliam resident Iona Macdonald has since launched a GoFundMe campaign to support the search for the Golden Retriever.

The raised funds hope to bring in professional support, including drone search teams and tracking dogs, to continue the effort.
So far, £2,690 has been raised, smashing its original £2,000 goal.

Louise has expressed overwhelming gratitude for the public’s help so far, saying their home “isn’t home without him.”

The fundraiser reads: “A good friend was up Steall Falls in Glen Nevis on Monday May 26 in the evening and her family dog Louie slipped his lead and ran away. Despite numerous hours spent searching by everyone and strangers who have kindly joined in searching Louie has still not been found.

“As many will know the area Louie has run of is very big open spaces with lots of rough terrain and the searches so far have not been successful.

“Organised searches will be sorted soon on the Facebook page.

“Louie is a Golden Retriever and is a lovable, friendly dog, now all the searches have so far not shown anything we now think we could try and raise some funds to help Louise towards paying for specialists to come up with thermal drones.

“Anyone who has a dog will know they are not just an animal, they are part of your family. I cannot imagine how Louise, Charlie ,and the girls are coping.”

Buddy can be relentless in his attempts to play and needs a dog of a similar playful energy - or people with a playful dog who are fully committed to teaching him rest time. We can provide a large crate and training support. This would also help with his cheeky nibbling until he learns to only chew his toys.

He would also do well as an only dog so long as he got his exercise and socialisation. He is more than happy to Netflix and chill next to you. Like all the bullies he adores people and would love to belong.

£300 was set aside to send to an approved rescue to help towards neuter costs and I really do not want to use this in Emergency Boarding hence fundraising.
We have called him Eric, he seems older than we were originally told, approx 4-5years old. Lovely sweet boy who needs a rescue space to save his life.
Been super friendly in kennels & shown no aggression. Described as a really lovely boy.
Has had ears cropped & tail docked.
Romanian import chip, not registered.
Will ignore other dogs when walking past them.
Currently in a Lancashire kennels as an unclaimed stray and needs to leave tomorrow whether he has a rescue offer or not so I have arranged boarding and transport but can only move him if he has an approved rescue space.

He’s a really lovely big boy who is approx 48kg in weight, so does need someone used to larger breeds, but he’s such a good boy. He’s starting to show us his goofy, silly personality – he definitely knows how to put a smile on people’s faces! Milo is a very well behaved boy – he is housetrained, travels well, knows his commands and has been totally non destructive in his kennel. He walks very well on lead, but due to his size, if he does pull towards something he can be strong, so just needs someone who can handle a larger breed. Milo is not reactive to other dogs, and can have walking friends, but as he’s only used to living as the only dog we think he would be happiest with what he knows, and we would like to rehome him as the only dog in his new home. He’s a no to cats! Milo is used to a quieter home environment, but has been around older children, and can be rehomed with children aged 10+.
