I'm Brendan. I'm interested in transforming education, psychology, and transmedia storytelling, and I promote alternatives to school for those who hate it.
@LauraMiers@dreamwisp@erinbiba It can be as simple as several people sharing a house or with nearby structures on some land, with caregiver support. Any places like this that already exist matter also. Key question is locations. Funding is a barrier but there are some ways.
@LauraMiers@dreamwisp@erinbiba My friends are all in different locations and travel is often difficult or local resources make relocation difficult. We envision a network of places like these, as they're desperately needed by so many people who deserve safe, humane and supportive living situations.
@NYSLabor @trancemuter When will this happen? I've seen tweets about this for a while but still nothing by text or email, can't get anyone on the phone, how can I get a text or email?
@attunedtherapy I tend to think a more urgent and neglected -- though related -- issue is the numerous people who take their own lives despite wanting to live; often experiencing a lack of assistance with getting needs met that could make life more worth living. Also issue with assisted suicide.
I would LOVE @adamconover to do a disability-centric ep of @AdamRuins. So many topics he can break down & demystify such as:
- institutional bias & the history of community living
- subminimum wages, sheltered workshops & employment of disabled people
- accessibility & ADA
We are striving toward a time when all those with #EhlersDanlos syndromes, and #hypermobilityspectrumdisorders, achieve their right for an early diagnosis, good management, respect & recognition for their condition.

@TinyWriterLaura Shocking. Mobilization and publicity is needed against psychiatrists who dismiss physical illness -- totally unacceptable especially since many ignorant doctors send patients with illness they can't diagnose to psychiatrists.

@VanceHuxley@StanfordPain@BethDarnall Doctors dismissing very real physical problems and suffering is an epidemic problem that deserves much more scrutiny and publicity -- this is also a causal factor in suicides and I've never seen this covered in prevention efforts - but who is looking at this? Needs to change.
@StanfordPain@BethDarnall rare disease which could only be cured by surgery. The surgery worked. Good thing I never gave up on my own intuition about my body cause if I'd listened to those saying it was psychosomatic I'd still be suffering or would've commited suicide. These studies are barbaric. 2/
@StanfordPain@BethDarnall This article promotes a dangerous attitude for doctors to have imo. I got medical PTSD because for 3 yrs 8 different Dr's told me my sudden severe vaginal pain was psychosomatic & I should seek a psychiatrist. Eventually I found a Dr who realized I had an extremely 1/
This is also why CBT for suicide prevention while ignoring people's unbearable situational and health issues is ignorant and harmful -- more is needed.
@rcbregman So many people are numb to all kinds of problems, suffering, and death. There are many options for nonviolence not being taken on so many issues.
@rcbregman People are also suffering & dying from medical neglect and psychiatric abuse in the Netherlands, the US & elsewhere & not well reported. Advocates in NL are so overwhelmed and very timid. Same everywhere. Violence isn't needed but louder voices & help from ppl media listen to
@rcbregman I want to scream. People are dying violent deaths every day from suicide out of despair. Let's start by seeing this and asking those suffering to death what they need. UBI first fort those suffering the most. The state won't give it so let's start with grassroots coordination.
@DrMaureenHanson Existing suicide prevention efforts and funding seem to completely ignore this reality when chronic illness and situational problems add up, but the same pattern can be seen in many cases. I am working to start an org around this and I'm interested in coordinating with others.
@DrMaureenHanson This is an important cause across neglected chronic illness -- I am working to help several people frequently at the edge of suicide despite wanting to live; even with support networks, the lack of money & caring people becoming overwhelmed, it all adds up.
