A reminder that Gordon Brown is one of the most decent and principled politicians we have ever had. A man with a strong moral compass & more compassion in his little finger than certain people have in their whole body.
But not for secondary English teachers. It’s a core subject - a key subject. Schools already have a shortage of subject specialist English teachers. But with no bursary at all, potentially great English teachers will be unable to train. So shortsighted!
The muppet show is returning.
I repeat
THE MUPPET SHOW IS RETURNING.
Kermit was my first crush this is momentous.
If this little girl’s giggle, Kermit’s disgruntled face & the last 10 seconds of this don’t make your day better then I cannot account for you:
@Teacherglitter My Year 1 son has spoken about one of the three books he was read today approx. a dozen times between pick up and bed time. So powerful!
"Have you phoned home?"
I'll be honest, when reporting some behaviour issues that had stressed me the hell out after a full day of teaching, this response used to annoy the hell out of me. I didn't have the time or energy to call 5-10 parents for one hour after school. I needed to plan lessons for the next day and the next day. The person asking the questions always seemed to have more time and be more chilled than me.
🕹Competition time!🕹
To celebrate the fact that I've finally got my hands on a copy of my book, I want to give away a copy.
Please like, retweet, and perhaps give me a follow to be in with a chance to win.

@RogersHistory Bereavement. I was back in school the next day and my principal popped his head in to check I was doing ok. I blubbed in front of my Y9 boys. They reminded me when they were in Y11. They were very sweet but admitted they’d felt so awkward.

A gentle reminder that many colleagues and pupils may not have had a lovely Christmas.
It might have been awful.
They may be very happy to be back where it feels safe, or where there's routine, or where there's company.
They may be dreading the question 'what did you do then' or
what did you get?'
The kid who got a PlayStation doesn't need a chance to grandstand. The kid that got nothing doesn't need to be reminded. The colleague who gloried with family will be just fine. The colleague who didn't see his mum this year would rather not go through it.
Festive Giveaway! RT and follow by 5pm on Friday 27th December.
I’ll pick one lucky person from all entrants on Twitter and Bluesky.
One lucky person can pick either shelf 1, 2, 3 or 4 from my Bertvent books of the year as a New Year treat!

@aknin Hi Yaniv. If you grew up in Hendon, I have a book that once belonged to you (your name and address is in the cover). Follow me and I can DM you a pic.
I don’t have a child at private school.
I don’t own or will ever inherit a mansion.
I don’t travel by private jet.
I don’t have a second home.
I’m never going to be in a position to pay capital gains tax.
So why does Sunak think I’ve been ripped off? 🤣#Budget2024
@Positivteacha When I went around the classroom asking Y10 what they would speak about for the Spoken Lang assessment. The boy who said, AT got a big laugh from the others.
Just a reminder about some exceptional mysteries set at sea for 8+ readers which have been out for a while rather than a particular book which is out today & has an uncanny resemblance to another book’s cover… 📚 #BookTwitter@redbreastedbird@LindsayGalvin
