TIP OF THE DAY
As a screenwriter, you will most likely have many deals fall through. And a lot of those deals will get very close to becoming real just before they fall through. And this will happen more often than getting a project produced. Embrace it, it's all part of it.
The only way to survive the inevitable heartbreak of being a screenwriter, I have found, is to variegate your workload.
Having a variety of projects in various stages of dev. makes it much less crushing when one (read: most of them) falls apart. You mourn, then happily move on.
Larry Ferguson: "Characters should never enter. They should storm in, they should skulk in, they should tremble in. Create visual pictures." #screenwriting
5 LESSONS I’VE LEARNED:
1. It’s okay to celebrate other writers’ successes.
2. There’ll always be ppl more talented than me, & that’s okay.
3. Not everyone will❤️my writing, & that’s okay.
4. Being nice takes you far.
5. Hard work trumps talent.

Screenwriting tip: even for features, learn to outline! When you go in and pitch for an open writing assignment, you’re going to have to outline the story so then you can create a good, well thought out pitch. ❤️
