How it Works - Jackal Proof of Persistence

Jackal does more than just store your data, it makes it resilient with auto-healing triple redundancy. That means every file you upload is copied three times and distributed across our decentralized network. If one copy goes down, the protocol steps in and automatically replicates it.

How does it work? Enter the Jackal Proof-of-Persistence (JPOP). A smart deal-driven system that makes sure data is always available and verifiable​.

Every file gets chopped into 10KB chunks. These chunks are hashed into a Merkle Tree, a cryptographic structure that proves data integrity without needing the whole file.

Storage Providers are challenged at random to prove they’re holding your data. They post Merkle Proofs, tiny cryptographic receipts, on-chain to confirm everything’s intact. Miss a proof? They get penalized.

If a storage provider drops the ball too many times, Jackal doesn’t panic. It spins up a backup to clone and restore the missing data automatically​.
