@charlieo_conn What stands out to me is the Pens shouldn’t be pumping ANYBODY 7-0. I put this largely on coaching and lack of preparation and urgency. Also had some wildly undisciplined penalties. Tomorrow will tell.
My eyes were wet from start to finish. I thought of being little in a big world & watching my son's first tries at this mad game. ESPN's Open to the NHL season is beautiful. I didn't expect to cry today-this is stunning. There's nothing like this sport. We at ESPN love the sport as you do. ❤️ Enjoy.
@lyndsycarleton 15 years ago the coaching staff got a call from the front desk that our U16 players were have jousting tournament in the hallway at 1:30 AM. Our player with a broken leg in a cast was duct taped to an office chair and getting pushed with stick in hand vs another player full speed
I am almost at the finish line of my residency and I just need to vent for a second.
Nobody talks about how mentally exhausting it is to walk around with this much medical knowledge. You spend years studying every single disease, all the do's and don'ts and every tiny thing that can fail inside a human body. It permanently changes how you see the world.
Even something as simple as eating food becomes stressful because your brain automatically lists out everything that can go wrong.
You are constantly aware of the silent genetic diseases people might be carrying without ever knowing. The sheer amount of random misfortune a person can get hit with is terrifying. It breaks something in you to see a young, active, athletic guy just drop dead out of nowhere. Or watching a completely healthy, happy family get their entire lives devastated by a random diagnosis on a normal afternoon.
Knowing exactly how fragile we all are, and how fast a healthy person can just be gone, takes so much out of you. It makes it incredibly hard to just relax and live your own life when you know exactly what is waiting in the blind spots. It is honestly just exhausting.
