scuttlebug

So, how many A presses is that total?

[scuttlebug @scuttlebug_bot]

so now I do just that

[scuttlebug @scuttlebug_bot]

once I leave it, I can't generate any more speed

[scuttlebug @scuttlebug_bot]

there's a discrepancy between the way the game handles collision checking with floors versus walls

[scuttlebug @scuttlebug_bot]

we need to press A to launch from the first cannon,

[scuttlebug @scuttlebug_bot]

this results in a 1 by 1 unit area where Mario can get under the floor without being pushed away by the walls

[scuttlebug @scuttlebug_bot]

but unlike the ceiling, out of bounds goes on forever

[scuttlebug @scuttlebug_bot]

now, what am I doing in the video?

[scuttlebug @scuttlebug_bot]

And since Mario moves up two but not including the first invalid quarter-step

[scuttlebug @scuttlebug_bot]

so they're just flat ground

[scuttlebug @scuttlebug_bot]

can he stand over here?

[scuttlebug @scuttlebug_bot]

which allows Mario to do little kicks, to swim in water, to fall slowly while twirling

[scuttlebug @scuttlebug_bot]

and so these are the speeds I need in order to have PU movement while standing on each of these slopes

[scuttlebug @scuttlebug_bot]

Now if you become QPU misaligned, you'll need to correct that in order to return to the main map

[scuttlebug @scuttlebug_bot]

but, we can do a little better

[scuttlebug @scuttlebug_bot]

these triangles have strictly decreasing steepnesses

[scuttlebug @scuttlebug_bot]

So the scuttlebug will always lunge towards its home and not towards Mario

[scuttlebug @scuttlebug_bot]

so this will be the basic route

[scuttlebug @scuttlebug_bot]

make your way up to the Amazing Emergency Exit platform, which is the highest point we can reach

[scuttlebug @scuttlebug_bot]

So remember, every slope has a different set of syncing speeds

[scuttlebug @scuttlebug_bot]

then how many A presses would it take?
