With #eWaste generation projected to reach 82 million tonnes by 2030, we must ramp up efforts to recycle and reuse electronic devices.
Let's work together to close the gap between e-waste production and recycling rates for a cleaner, greener future https://t.co/nIsg0wolWQ
Can Europe’s future critical raw materials already be hidden in today’s waste? ♻️
On 27 May 2026, the @FuturamProject Final Event will present new findings on recovering CRMs from European waste streams to support Europe’s green transition. ⬇️

🌍♻️ Today is International Day of Zero Waste. Electronics are the fastest-growing waste stream, yet many countries still lack the data and systems to manage them effectively.
🌍👩🔬 On #InternationalWomensDay, we celebrate women and the many contributions they make in science, policy, environmental action, and far beyond. At SCYCLE, we see their impact daily through the work of our colleagues and partners advancing solutions for circular economy.
The 3rd edition of the E-waste Statistics Guidelines is now out, supporting countries in producing consistent and internationally comparable e-waste statistics.

🔸 The trade-off:
While safety is improved, an important low-threshold collection option is lost. It remains to be seen if and how this will affect official collection rates.
👉 Stay tuned for the next Global E-waste Monitor in 2027!
As of 1 Jan 2026, Germany has removed public collection containers for small e-waste.
🔸 Why? Fire risks caused by improperly disposed batteries.
🔸 What’s changed? Small e-waste can now only be returned to retailers or recycling centres.
✨ Happy Holidays from the @scycleunitar team!
Thank you to our partners and supporters for the trust and collaboration throughout 2025. This year brought steady progress across our work on PCBs, batteries, and plastics.
Here’s to continuing the work together in the new year 🤝
