compared to my reference (yamaha hph-mt8) the app1 is more similar, just lacking in bass and treble extension. again, for the way i use them the app1 is probably still fine. so the app3 is mainly winning on comfort and noise cancellation and i'll be thinking about that from now.

app3 definitely have disproportionately loud bass. it feels good and there's no harshness at all so you can turn them up really loud but then i start to feel like i can't hear the notes. app1 don't have enough bass but i'm old so i guess i don't expect earbuds to have bass anyway

in comparison app1 definitely get painful when turned up but idk if it's because of harsh resonances or just that it's actually louder because all the power isn't going to the bass and the mids aren't all scooped out. probably the latter

switching between headphones quickly listening to the same audio to judge them feels kinda dumb. they sound different so of course it shocks you going between them. the app3 sound "better" than my usual wired headphones and the app1 if i'm doing that but it's not the whole story.

i've got app3 in one ear and app1 in the other trying to see if i can make them both play sound at once but it just switches between them when i press the stem lol

i was wondering about this. wouldn't there be holes in the wood for the bugs to get in before they turned it into an instrument? so they saw the holes and just filled them in hoping the bugs already left. and they didn't. lol
