@JonAcuff I asked my wife to edit chapters of my book. The pages came back to me all marked up. In red pen. With a letter grade. "C+ You can do better", it said. She was right. But I still threw all our red pens in the garbage so we could stay married.

@JonAcuff A few years back, I grabbed a Sharpie and wrote this on three sheets of paper, 1) who am I talking with (what’s their story?) 2) what do they need (concerns, dreams, fears?) and 3) what can I humbly offer? These are still taped on the office wall in front of me. At eye level.

@JonAcuff I wish I could claim this for myself, but my father rolls over and says "I'm sorry" to my mother every morning. It's a dual-purpose advance apology to 1) cover anything he screws up later in the day, and 2) acknowledge that she could have done better, but he's glad she didn't.

Congress overwhelmingly passed a $600/wk emergency benefit during the pandemic. They believed this was the bare minimum needed to cover food and shelter for a family.
It's equal to $15 per hour.
Yet minimum wage is still stuck at less than half that amount.
