My Public Health Truths (a "living" thread).
There are few "truths" in public health, but the following include those I have observed in quantitative & qualitative studies, community engagement, and program implementation independent of socioeconomic or geographic contexts.
@ryangerritsen I wonder also if someone gets all of those points on their personal credit card or they could have avoided the 3% fee by making a bank transfer payment.
@unhiddenness@Arturmaks In fact, since you seem like such a thoughtful person, my stepmom even wrote a book about it. Let me know when done reading so we can chat more :)

@unhiddenness@Arturmaks This was well documented even in '68.

Half of Swedish Jews (including my family) ended up there because of this...
I will say that even for a nothing story like my own, it took me dozens of comments on the post about me to get them to delete it.
I would post and then some other folks would post lies and it took about a week to get it deleted.
In the end, some editor of unknown significance made the final call about my story.
I will never donate to wikipedia again.
As someone has surely said, there is a sect called Raelism that uses this as their symbol.
I was exposed to it first in the 90s in Montreal when my landlord who was married to his sister had a van with this insignia on it.(https://t.co/hRnMSIgPBE)
They essentially believe aliens will come soon.
@CarymaRules I like the dude at the 1:00 minute mark holding up the peace sign and then immediately raging in anything but a peaceful manner... oy vey.
I keep wondering when our elected officials or city leaders will realize that they have built no good will with these folks in having not just allowed, but facilitated, these demonstrations over the last few years.
The moment they do something consistent with the law that runs counter to the will of these folks, they end up as the butt of one of these banal chants.
@calvinrobinson@visegrad24 And what was the motivation for a smaller country that had no connection to Germany to "deal" with a much larger country that was actively discussing splitting that country up with another country (Russia).
What good would have come out of those talks for that country?
@mapleblooded@CTVNews In fairness, CTV just paid to rerun the story originally developed by what it seems like is a camera man at Associated Press?

One would be hard pressed to come up with a viable scenario for a police officer pushing someone first by the arm and then on the chest and then indicating it was for his safety without giving a warning that he was being verbally or physically aggressive with the folks across the street.
I know these officers are just told to do this and likely care little other than drawing time and a half on a sunny sunday...but just painful to watch all around.
@l3v1at4an@Favretto@TheBeerStoreON I used to feel bad about the inevitable demise of the Beer Store with these new rules.
Thanks to Derek I am now free to never worry again as these stores systematically close across the province.
@CarymaRules The TPS must understand that there is no goodwill built with these folks.
Ie, they can bring them coffee, ignore or downplay threats, protect them from any challenge, and beyond.
And it will buy the TPS exactly 0 goodwill with these folks.
They get that.
(right?)
@CarymaRules If anyone has priced the cost of TPS overtime, the opportunity cost of crimes not prevented or uninvestigated for the city.
And...whether there is any end in sight.
