12 dogs are safe at our Escondido Campus following Wednesday's fire at a senior living community. Alongside Escondido Fire, our Humane Law Enforcement and veterinary teams evaluated ~25 evacuated pets for smoke inhalation—and thankfully, none required critical care.

Three orphaned raccoons have become the first graduates of our new raccoon nursery at Ramona Wildlife Center! After weeks of specialized rehabilitation that helped them develop the skills needed to survive in the wild, they were released together at Mission Trails Regional Park.

San Diego has an extreme heat warning through the weekend. Follow these tips to keep pets safe:
✅Provide plenty of cool, clean water. 
✅Keep pets cool indoors as much as possible.
✅Only walk in the early morning or late evening.
❌Never leave your pet in a parked vehicle.

These intakes come as San Diego Humane Society continues to experience unprecedented dog populations, with 792 canines in care. Right now, San Diego Humane Society is caring for 1,950 animals. Of those, 874 are available for adoption.
