Grammy-winning R&B legend and original Broadway The Wiz star Stephanie Mills🔥🔥👏👏👏👏 showed her support for BTS by sharing Rolling Stone India’s post about BTS pulling ARIRANG from Grammy consideration, calling their decision “so brave” and saying, “I admire these young men💛” 💜👏👏👏
It's so funny being an ARMY for 10 years because I've been here long enough to remember that Yoongi was originally known for piano and Jin for guitar, but now they've swapped instruments.
🐹 We were fans of artists who speak the different languages from us but we didn’t think differently of them because of that. I was a fan of them & still am & I don’t think a language is a barrier. I’ve always cared more about the emotions in their music
please know none of this would be possible without the guys knowing we have their back no matter what. “GOT ARMY RIGHT BEHIND US WHEN WE SAY SO” isn’t just a cute bar it’s a reminder of the power we have as bts’ biggest voice and what that support means to them. we are their greatest trophy. and that means more than any award show. THIS IS WHAT ARMYS MEANT WHEN WE SAID OUR ULTIMATE GOAL IS TO MAKE BTS UNTOUCHABLE. the biggest band on earth just gave the much needed final knockout punch to an institution that has been playing in the faces of people of color for decades.
I don't think people fully understand the magnitude of this decision.
Some of the music industry's most respected producers, writers, engineers, and creatives worked on ARIRANG. A project built to the highest artistic standard. One producer even spoke publicly about hoping the album would receive Grammy recognition.
Then the Recording Academy introduced a category specifically for Asian pop.
And BTS chose not to submit.
Think about that. The biggest musical project of the year. One of the strongest commercial and artistic contenders. A project that could have competed across multiple major categories. It simply won't be in the race because the artists chose principle over prestige.
Moves like this don't happen often. When artists at BTS' level willingly walk away from the biggest stage in music, the conversation shifts because of what they refused to endorse.
and notice how everything’s written in korean and there’s not a single english word in sight. they really said you wanna know what i’m saying, go ahead and translate it then
