There are native iris, but this is not one of them. Dr. Gary Larson gave me this one when I moved to Brookings. Gary was on the search committee that hired me. He was a great friend, mentor, and role model. I will miss him. And now there is more pressure to not kill the iris.
Groundplum milkvetch (𝘈𝘴𝘵𝘳𝘢𝘨𝘢𝘭𝘶𝘴 𝘤𝘳𝘢𝘴𝘴𝘪𝘤𝘢𝘳𝘱𝘶𝘴). Attractive to birds, eaten by wildlife, pretty purple flowers, weird spherical fruits- what more could you want?
