Back working on site full time from today. A number of things I’ve learned:
- lots of other staff are more excited to be back in than me
- I genuinely love the new clear desk policy
- there’s no dignified way to eat a chicken and sweetcorn mayo sandwich without touching the bread
It’s 9 school days until the end of term and my school has shut its doors until January due to the inability to guarantee the safety of students because of the volume of staff needing to self isolate.
The cover list at the end of last week had 20 teaching staff names on it, and that’s without counting admin and support staff also having to self isolate because of contact, or off with confirmed covid-19 themselves.
Today was the last Thursday before the holidays. It’s been a bit of a wringer of a year with a very bumpy start but, despite the worldwide pandemic situation, the last few months have actually been pretty good! So cheers all, and I hope you have a great one! #schoolsoutforsummer
Day 2 of working at home. Setting tasks, keeping on top of emails, face to face teaching on a rota (most in one day a week only and a very small number of students actually in school), and keeping motivated.
Screenshotted from Facebook and sharing. IDs removed because anon etc - it’s a conversation between an ex teacher and a current teacher, both secondary.
Been listening to @ICT_MrP#2mrpsinapodcast the last few weeks and it’s got me through some tough days. Thought I’d be balking at anything work related this hol but their sense of fun + passion for the job is really keeping my head in the game + feeling positive. Cheers boys :)
Decided I’m going to make a conscious effort to blog more frequently from January. It’s good to have an outlet, and it’s good to reach out. #holidaythoughts
This thread is ALL OF THE TRUTH. I remember once asking a child if they knew their username and password, they nodded earnestly and proceeded to sincerely type in their name followed by .com before hitting enter, and without even a thought for the (obviously unknown) password.
Issues with using iPads or tablets in lessons: A THREAD. 1. “Miss, mine isn’t charged up”. Spend 10 mins emailing everyone in the building to see whether anyone can bring you a charger/ charged tablet.
