Waving the Tricolour at Jantar Mantar in a peaceful protest is not a crime. Jailing youth for it is an act of cowardice.

100 Harvard University alumni issue a statement condemning "police brutality, unlawful detention, and violations of constitutional rights of all peaceful protestors" in Delhi on October 10.
They particularly express solidarity with Sr Adv Shadan Farasat (2009 Harvard Law School alumni) who was manhandled by the Delhi police, and CJP Policy Head Mehr Pasricha (Harvard Kennedy School, 2025) who was detained.
"We call upon the government and all law enforcement authorities to immediately cease and desist from all violations of constitutional rights, respect rights to peaceful protest and access to legal assistance, and ensure that those responsible for abuses are held accountable in accordance with the rule of law," they demand.
yes, i am against the BJP, but calling this an emergency and comparing it to 1975 is unfair & unconstitutional. i mean sure there’s an internet shutdown, no right to protest, key protest figures being abducted, thousands of protesters detained in the middle of the night, even hundreds of supreme court lawyers and sitting MPs MLAs detained, trains & metros being cancelled and the entire state machinery being deployed against citizens demanding accountability but unless modi ji comes on tv at 8 pm and announces “mere pyare deshvasiyon, mujhe yeh batate hue bohot garv ho raha hai ki aaj se is desh mein emergency laagu kardi gayi hai,” how are we supposed to know??? 😭😭🙏🏻
a sex offender should be punished but compare this to the significantly peaceful protests that happened over the last week, and the disproportionate brutality shown by the police🤷♀️🤷♀️🤷♀️
