Carlos Sainz and the heartbreaking finish to the 1998 WRC season
Carlos Sainz was just 300 meters from winning the 1998 World Rally Championship when disaster struck. He only needed to finish fourth on the final stage of Rally GB, but his Toyota Corolla WRC suffered a catastrophic engine failure within sight of the finish.
With no way to restart the car, Sainz watched his third world title slip away in one of the most heartbreaking moments in rally history
@TrailerTrashceo A kid on an e scooter just drove not directly through a roundabout but *around*at least 2 of the entry’s and exits right in front of me. Like nigga just go straight through the median at that point if someone doesn’t run you over I will
@EightMike@DirtFishRally Whole point is to get people’s attention to it. If F1 can get massively popular from a bit of investment in the U.S., rally can as well if done correctly. People here are slowly getting caught on it, it just needs a good push. And if that works, there’s a LOT of money for FIA.
@TrailerTrashceo unfortunately the "end of group b" is returning with the new regulations because of weird shit between the FIA and the people trying to make the sport bigger (promoter). the people doing that will change soon tho so hopefully we see a return to the good old days. AND to the US!
@TrailerTrashceo dont cry you'll be relieved that the only motorsport I watch is the World Rally Championship where people hurl themselves off cliffs at 100 mph and have people on the roadside try to kill them by throwing rocks through their windshields
