@ChevvyAmy @victoriapratt26 @Madz_Grant@YouGov You’re right, it won’t. More likely it’ll be a stick to beat us into more austerity. This ‘get on with it’ rhetoric doesn't face up to current difficulties in society, but rather accepts them. This suits the government because it keeps us servile. Don't indulge them.
@ChevvyAmy @victoriapratt26 @Madz_Grant@YouGov I'm not suggesting that individuals are greedy by wanting to work. But that the economy we have is driven by wasteful practices and profit for those at the top, while workers suffer on unstable, zero-hours It's a toxic system and one we should seek to change while it's impotent
@ChevvyAmy @victoriapratt26 @Madz_Grant@YouGov The immediate threat will go away, all the quicker if we're considerate of others. Living with it means accepting changes in the shorter term. We should capitalise on the positives and not plough headlong back into a greed mentality.
@victoriapratt26 @Madz_Grant@YouGov That's an irresponsible attitude to take. We should use this time to take stock of what's really important; the things we've lost sight of in our harmful, consumerist society. Not rush to get back to and to hell with those who'll suffer.
@victoriapratt26 @Madz_Grant@YouGov Those bleating on about 'the economy' and 'getting back to work' are most likely middle-income office dwellers who never have to 'work'. The 'economy' they cherish pays them fat bonuses and has the rest dashing around on mopeds delivering lattes, fast food and throwaway rubbish
@victoriapratt26 @Madz_Grant@YouGov We can't just 'get on with life now' - not yet. People need to learn to live with less and look after what they have - a slower pace of life, with decent pay and self-accountability.
https://t.co/nmlTBsbtlP. found this marvelous interview with Jamie Hewlett, very articulate and insightful. And good to hear him talking about the things we all struggle with #jamiehewlett#comicarts#illustration
Again, no sign of the UK public pulling together, accepting guidelines or exercising common sense. Instead, it’s ’who can we blame’, ‘what can I get away with’, and ‘why should I?’ With the tabloid TV news inflaming the situation. Roll with it and give people a break.
