Welcome home to the crews of USS Gerald R. Ford (CVN 78), USS Bainbridge (DDG 96), and USS Mahan (DDG 72).
After 326 days at sea, the Ford Carrier Strike Group is back at Naval Station Norfolk. It’s the longest carrier deployment since the Vietnam War, breaking the post-Vietnam record previously held by USS Abraham Lincoln.
Across nearly eleven months, the strike group operated across U.S. 4th, 5th, and 6th Fleet areas of responsibility, including the Mediterranean, Caribbean, and Red Sea, supporting Operations Southern Spear, Absolute Resolve, and Epic Fury.
Nearly 4,500 sailors aboard the Ford, alongside the crews of Bainbridge and Mahan, the squadrons of Carrier Air Wing 8, and Destroyer Squadron 2, carried the load.

Last Monday at @SeaAirSpace, CEO Tara Murphy Dougherty joined @USNavy, @USCG, @SAICinc, and @CNA_org to discuss maritime interoperability —advocating for a “sensor-to-shooter-to-sustainer-to-supplier chain to ensure the fleet can fight past the opening salvo and sustain conflict.
The momentum continued into Tuesday evening with an intimate fireside chat featuring VADM Robert Gaucher, Director, Submarine Programs. VADM Gaucher and Murphy Dougherty explored “Powering Undersea Superiority Through Better Decisions and Data.”
Key takeaway: Decentralize the eyes, centralize the muscle.

C'est formidable d'être au @SeaAirSpace et de constater la forte participation des entreprises canadiennes qui présentent leurs innovations en matière de défense maritime.
Spotted at @SeaAirSpace:
Teddy reviewing plans for USS John F. Kennedy (CVN 79).
124 years after he helped charter the Navy League, he still can’t resist a good carrier. Huge thanks to our Hampton Roads Council for the work they’re doing supporting the future commissioning.
