@HanftMeredith Great point! Students need to be emotionally connected to the classroom. Reality Pedagogy discusses that engagement comes through understanding in a classroom that has a “family feel.”
Does anyone feel like sometimes being a white teacher is a challenge in itself with the preconceived perceptions of white people? I have been accused of being prejudiced simply because I am white.

I found that incorporating music and dance (hip hop) and letting students have more control in how they learned content in a fun way - got them more interested! I love music (and hip hop) and students became surprised when I could “spit rhymes”. Ha! #4wf8333
