This statement, more than anything else, makes me want a complete and transparent investigation.

Given her engagement with Dmitriev, her role in organizing the Russian Duma delegation’s visit to Washington, and rumors that she sought to sponsor a reciprocal congressional delegation to Moscow, she has had significant contact with Russian officials and power brokers.

At the same time, she has been a powerful champion of transparency and accountability in many other areas, often causes I have deeply supported.

That is precisely why her position here is so difficult to understand. Why not demand the same transparency now?

If there is nothing improper to uncover, a full investigation should be welcomed and encouraged.
