Word of the day is ‘matter’, which began with the Latin ‘mater’, ‘mother’, because it is a substance from which we are made.

@vonprond @frjonathanbish I don't agree. "I am not beguiled by you" means, "you are trying your best to beguile me, and I am aware of the pull of that beguilement, but I am not giving in to it, however much I might want to". That's how temptation, and resisting it, works.

@vonprond @frjonathanbish I don't agree. Beguilement is about having a spell cast on you, being tricked or manipulated. Jesus was able to see through the manipulation of Satan and resist it. Doesn't mean he wasn't tempted, just that he didn't give way to temptation.
