When you look at Owen Jones, Helen Lewis, George Monbiot, you get the feeling that Lewis is the only one who stands any chance of being introspective about her role in publicising Brand, yet is also the most likely to be demonised for it. With the odd exception, the entire country idolised Russell Brand back in the 2010's. They loved his womanising, they loved him for his intellectual prowess. His "Booky Wook" was a Christmas best seller. He was forgiven for his transgressions, from dressing up as Osama Bin Laden on the day after 9/11, to Sachsgate and the dating of a 16 year old Pixie Geldof when he was 33. He was courted by politicians like Ed Milliband, and was friends with most of the comedy circuit. When he gets out of prison, his oratory skills and charisma is going to see him stay just as beloved and famous.
