🚨 Strategic Weakness at Sea: NATO’s Maritime Capabilities at Risk
A new report by Nautilus International and MM&P highlights a sharp decline in national-flagged vessels and qualified seafarers across NATO, exposing serious gaps in operational readiness and maritime security.
"Heavy reliance on foreign-flagged vessels and foreign crews undermines flag-state accountability and weakens NATO’s ability to respond to crises, hybrid threats, and geopolitical instability."
🔍 The findings are clear:
Maritime subsidies are failing to reverse the decline.
FOCs weaken national resilience.
Policy misalignment is eroding sovereignty and strategic control.
🧭 It's time to reinforce the genuine link between ships and their flags — and invest in the fleets and seafarers that keep us secure.

How do we build power and protect rights for transport workers in supply chains? Trade unions from around the world debated this critical question during our CongressLive event at #ITFCongress2024. What answers did union leaders and activists give? 🧵⬇️
@ITFglobalunion
Solidarity networks 🚩🏳️🌈💪🏼 - we must continue to build networks of international solidarity of workers employed by the same transport companies expanding along the supply chain, to give unions workplace leverage and equivalent standards in their collective agreements.
The government has officially stepped away from their predecessor’s position that the right to strike isn’t protected by the ILO, the UN’s workers’ rights watchdog.
A clear signal the 🇬🇧 is firmly back on the right side of global efforts to protect the right to strike.
👏👏
Special shoutout to the International Longshoremen Association (ILA) maritime workers on strike nationwide. Dockworkers have the most important job in the United States and are more than deserving of a better contract 💪🏾 #solidarity#unionstrong

Nieuwe academische studie naar de kosten van klimaatverandering. Zes keer hoger dan eerder aangenomen. Door alles wat we nu niet doen om CO2 te reduceren, zadelen we toekomstige generaties op met torenhoge kosten.
