🚄 New Enterprise Trains! 🚄
Great to be in Belfast‘s Grand Central Station today with First Minister @moneillsf & Infrastructure Minister @LizKimminsSF for the contract signing for new Enterprise trains.
These new trains, joint funded by the Executive, Irish government & the EU’s PeacePlus programme, will hopefully be available by late 2028.
They’ll be;
Faster 🚄
Greener ♻️
More accessible & user friendly!
This is good news for people in Newry & Armagh as train connections to Dublin & Belfast will be quicker & more frequent.
It’s also a great example of all-Ireland collaboration & Minister Liz Kimmins delivering for workers & families.

💔 We are heartbroken to learn of the passing of our dear friend and comrade Mickey Brady.
A lifelong republican activist who dedicated himself to the people of Newry and Armagh and to the freedom of our country.
Mickey believed so fully in the promise of a United Ireland and a better future. He was devoted to his family, a champion of his community who fought the corner of ordinary people every day.
Serving as both a Sinn Féin MLA and later MP, Mickey never gave up the fight for equality, justice and a better Ireland for all.
His legacy will live on in the hearts and minds of all those who knew him and of the thousands of people he so generously and courageously helped along his way.
A working class hero from the streets of Newry, Mickey will be sorely missed but remembered every day. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam.
🚨BREAKING: @sinnfeinireland MP @DaireHughesSF statement after 'sinister' online video showing men in masks with weapons.
🚨A video shared online shows masked men with guns reading a statement in which politicians are described as ‘legitimate targets’.
The Newry and Armagh MP said: "The sinister threats issued by faceless thugs against elected members of Newry, Mourne and Down are an attack on democracy and on the mandate each of us as elected members receives from the public."
Sinn Féin will face down efforts by Keir Starmer and the British government to impose their ‘Brit Card’ on citizens here.
This scheme is absurd, ill thought out and has no support from political parties and people here.
Great to engage with @cooperationirl’s Future Leaders at the Good Friday Agreement Committee this week. They’re a powerful group of young people who are already shaping the future of our island.
They presented their ‘See Our Silence, Hear Our Vision’ report on barriers to young persons with disabilities accessing education.
They rightly point out that all-island cooperation is vital to breaking down barriers in education, inclusion and disability rights - all of which must be at the centre of a fair society.
That includes the sharing of resources and best practice on an all-Ireland basis. As such, we agreed to share their findings with both the north and the south’s Education Ministers
It was inspiring to hear from these young people who are not just future leaders, but leaders today.
Sinn Féin is committed to building a better, fairer, new Ireland. One that provides the opportunity for a reimagined society in which everyone is afforded a dignified standard of living and equal access to services. That is the new, united Ireland that Sinn Féin seeks to build.
They tried to do a Jeremy Corbyn on her but she unapologetically faced them down. A win against corporatism, war criminals, corruption and all the dirty tricks of the establishment. But most of all an emphatic win for the Irish people. 🇮🇪
🗳️5 HOURS LEFT TO VOTE 🗳️
Vote for a president who will shape a new, united Ireland.
We can’t vote in the north. I’m asking all of you with a vote to use it!
Vótáil Catherine Connolly 1
Catherine Connolly would be a strong voice independent of government. A President who would serve with dignity, courage, who would listen to the people of Ireland and never be afraid to speak out.
I condemn the removal of Pride flags in Newry. These flags represent equality, respect and inclusion - values our city embraces.
Their removal is an intolerant act that has no place here.
Pride is about visibility and respect, that message will not be silenced.
We stand firmly with the LGBTQ+ community.
⚽️🏆 Great craic at the opening night of Battle on the Border at Jennings Park yesterday with Liz Kimmins MLA, Council Chairperson Cllr. Philip Campbell and Cllr. Valerie Harte.
With almost 100 teams from across Ireland competing, this event is running all over the weekend and it’s brilliant to see so many young people here in The Meadow to take part.
The competition is celebrating local football and is being run in memory of Gerry Murtagh, Kieran Lucas and Kevin McArdle. Funds are also being raised for @macmillancancer.
Maith sibh Meadowlands Newry FC and everyone involved in putting together this excellent programme. We hope all the young people, their coaches and families have a fantastic weekend ⚽️ 🏆
Infrastructure Minister Liz Kimmins has met Foras na Gaeilge and reiterated her determination to see Irish language given its place across the public services she is responsible for.
