It's funny to listen to socialists talk about Medicare for all
I suspect most people think Medicare is free and covers everything.
Neither are true.
Besides paying taxes for it you whole working life, if you make it to 65 you still have to pay a monthly premium of something over $100, a little more if you want the Part D that covers some drugs. They will helpfully just take it automatically out of your Social Security check when you apply for Social Security.
It won't cover expensive items like hip replacements. You will face $70,000 bills for things like that, if you don't buy a wrap around private plan.
It also won't cover doctor visits or urgent care etc. They professional who choose to take Medicare will see you. They won't tell you what anything cost or give you a bill. You will get a bill in the mail a few wakes later for $100, $200 whatever - the part Medicare did not pay
Today I experienced a new wrinkle of Medicare's deficiency while traveling. I was in Maryland with a sore throat and the remains of a sore ear canal. A MinuteClinic told me I was "out of network" and my insurance was only good in Virginia. It's possible I just had an inxompeten @CVS nurse. Or may Medicare isn't portable across state lines?
@youfadedwealth @Polymarket To clarify, it affects only those with standalone Part D plans. People on Medicare Advantage plans are unaffected nor are low income recipients.

The answer depends on which prices you’re referring to.
If you mean consumer prices that disproportionately affect older Americans, the evidence is mixed:
Prescription drugs: Some Medicare beneficiaries are likely to face higher monthly premiums in the future because the Trump administration announced it will end a temporary subsidy program that had been helping keep Medicare Part D premiums lower. Officials say many seniors will see little or no increase, but a substantial share are expected to pay US$11–20 more per month starting with 2027 coverage.
Imported goods: The administration’s tariff policies are expected by many economists to increase the prices of some imported consumer goods. At the same time, the administration has also pursued policies it says are intended to lower drug prices, including “most-favored nation” pricing initiatives for some pharmaceuticals. Whether those savings outweigh higher premiums or other cost increases will vary by individual and remains debated.
So, it would not be accurate to say that the Trump administration is broadly raising prices on older citizens as a specific policy goal. However, some of its recent policy decisions are expected to increase certain costs for many seniors, particularly Medicare Part D premiums and potentially some prescription drugs and imported goods, while other initiatives are intended to reduce drug prices.
