My prayers go to the family of Nathalia Gedelha Filhguriras, the Co-Pilot of the #FloridaPlaneCrash, she was the same age as my daughter, and I can not imagine the grief they feel at her loss. May God's spirit comfort them in this tragedy.

@MegynKellyShow @megynkelly Seems she handled better than the pilot who was praying as u can hear if u listen. She did amazing .. men and women can go to war at 18 but being 29 and co pilot of a plane is really an issue. What did she do wrong ?

I saw all the memes about the young woman that died as co-pilot of the Learjet that crashed but if you want to blame someone..
This is why we call it the “Pilot In Command”
This happened in the same vicinity where the ill-fated Lear Jet hit the storm cell.
JetBlue pilot en route from Fort Lauderdale to Austin says to ATC:
“So you're gonna make us go through a, uh, severe thunderstorm?”
The captain then commanded the situation and overrode the ATC:
“So we declare an emergency, making a left turn heading 260 for severe weather avoidance.”
Sometimes piloting demands a specific set of traits - decisiveness, independent judgment, and the backbone to reject an instruction when it doesn’t feel right.
Refusing the assigned heading showed exactly that kind of assertive leadership.
Whoever is pilot monitoring must make these tough calls but ultimately, the captain is the final authority and ultimately accountable for every soul on board.
Wow, thanks for the explanation. I love to hear about the aircrafts & flying them. Once wanted to be a pilot but can't because of eyesight. That Lear 60 sounds like a nightmare. Those poor passengers & the pilot & Co Pilot. I've listened to planes coming down that couldn't recover. It's so sad. Usually it's an inexperienced pilot, a plane not certified or up in maintenance or just a poorly designed never should be in the air aircraft taking passengers. You take your life in your own hands it's up to you but when there are passengers life at stake this is just a tragedy waiting to happen.

Her parents should be very proud of the Magnificient daughter they raised. She followed her dream until the last second of her life. On the mic with ATC doing her co-pilot job of communicating. 20 years old, pilot since 17. I would not, at 73, had her COURAGE!
The demoralization campaign around the female co-pilot is sickening. This young woman managed to page ATC throughout the entirety of their rapid descent, and with only mere seconds before her death, she sends out another message letting ATC know they’re nose-diving below 10,000 feet. The planes speed surpassed 500mph, and at the time of impact, Mach 1.
When I watch the crash video and overlay it with the co-pilots audio, I sit there in disbelief. Her ability to keep “showing up” is not just brave, it’s cartoonishly impressive.
Too soon to be saying this, but I don’t care - that girl is a fucking legend. For ambitiously pursuing aviation at the age of 17, flying privates at the age of 20, and for doing HER JOB until the very last second.
This story has been twisted and contorted beyond belief by the absolute dredges of society.
@B7frankH You did catch the part that says she was the co-pilot right? The male pilot of the Learjet 60 crash was Captain Jeff Gregory, who was 55 years old and had extensive flying experience. So explain to me how it was her fault.

Why did every media outlet immediately start trying to convince us that an inexperienced female pilot was flying the plane that crashed? They all knew a 55yr old male pilot with two decades experience was the pilot sitting in the captains seat. So, why lie about it unless you were trying to hide something?
