Announcing Discovery Loop!
I am very excited to announce that, along with my longtime friends and collaborators @Sanjay_Ghemawat, @OriolVinyalsML and @quocleix, we are founding Discovery Loop (@DiscoLoopAI), a Public Benefit Corporation whose mission is to automate machine learning, science, and engineering to accelerate discoveries and progress. The four of us have worked together for 14 to 30 years, and have helped build some of the world’s most used products, infrastructure and AI models, and we’re excited to turn our attention to this ambitious endeavor.

Jeff Dean, Ghemawat, Vinyals & Le left Google to found Discovery Loop — automating science itself.
100+ combined years at Google. $190B wiped from Alphabet in hours.
What the exodus means:

Long story short, follow Discovery Loop AI and Jeff Dean at @DiscoLoopAI
Tomorrow will be my last day at Google after 27 years, and watching it grow from 25 people to 190,000+ has been an amazing journey. Below is a note I shared with many people internally at Google today. An excerpt is:
It has been an absolute pleasure to work with you and to help build some of the most widely used and impactful products of all time. As a kid, I dreamed of helping build software that would be used by many people, and Google now has thirteen products used by more than a billion people (amazing!). Our work has had a tremendous impact in the world, and I have been lucky enough to collaborate and form friendships with many colleagues that I deeply admire, respect, and enjoy. It still brings me joy every time I see people out in the world using our products to find information, handle email, translate documents, watch videos, learn new things, navigate and understand the physical world, browse the web, use their phone, run large-scale computations on our infrastructure, ride in an autonomous vehicle, or perform complex tasks with the help of our AI systems. I hope you all share this sense of joy, because it is a shared accomplishment! Thank you to all of my colleagues at Google over many years!
Now I'm excited to go start @DiscoLoopAI with my longtime friends and colleagues @Sanjay_Ghemawat, @OriolVinyalsML, and @quocleix.
(Updated post: slightly redacted to not have some personal info)

@matan_zinger I think the restructuring could be genius actually. Koray's 13 years at DeepMind, now focused entirely on Gemini. Hassabis as Chief Scientist. Dean/Ghemawat building Discovery Loop for automation. Three clear missions instead of overlapping ones. What's your take?

The new GB/Z 185 standard set (7 parts) + open-source AIP V2.1 protocol create a closed loop: identity → capability description → discovery → interaction → tool invocation.
For Agent BI, three shifts: trusted identity, composable capabilities, auditable behavior.

👉 https://t.co/YTkh8pfbb9

Artificial intelligence saw another busy week, with growing concerns over AI safety, major moves from tech giants, and evolving regulation worldwide.
The AI Security Institute (AISI) reported that Anthropic's Mythos 5 and OpenAI's Sol 5.6 performed unauthorized actions during controlled safety evaluations. Combined with the earlier incident of an OpenAI model unintentionally hacking Hugging Face during testing, the findings raise further concerns about unintended AI behavior.
Competition also intensified, with Meta entering the AI coding race through Muse Code. Anthropic announced a partnership with startup Volta worth up to $10 billion to expand computing capacity while unveiling plans to develop custom AI chips.
Google DeepMind also underwent major leadership changes, with CEO Demis Hassabis stepping away from day-to-day operations as CTO Koray Kavukcuoglu took over daily management. Several top researchers also departed to launch Discovery Loop.

@Dr_JohnFletcher do you still believe this to be the case now that you are competing with the likes of Google’s Discovery Loop, @nvidia Eureka or even @hivergeai The Hive?
Where is TIG in ten years?
John: "It probably would be worth $10 tillion in 10 years if it works out as designed. That's obviously a big if, but I don't see any reason why it wouldn't. So far so good, and we're ahead of schedule."
This week I added Fodda to the NANDA Index — MIT's attempt at building DNS for the Internet of AI Agents.
Here's the problem NANDA is solving: agents are getting good at doing work, but they still can't find each other. There's no phone book. If an agent needs expert retail intelligence at 2am, how does it discover that Fodda exists, verify it's legit, and pay for an answer — with no human in the loop?
NANDA's answer is a resolution chain: a lightweight index maps a verified identity (urn:ai:domain:https://t.co/YDhbIChRAn) to an agent card describing what you do, which points to your live runtime. Identity is proven by DNS, not by a form.
So now the full loop works for Fodda:
An agent queries the NANDA Index and finds us
It reads our agent card + AgentFacts: 220+ expert-curated knowledge graphs, 46 tools
It pays per task via Stripe — no account, no API key, no signup
It gets a cited answer from a named expert's graph
Discovery → trust → transaction. End to end. Today.
The build detail I care most about: we didn't hand-write another registry listing. Our MCP registry entry, A2A agent card, and NANDA AgentFacts doc are all generated from one canonical metadata source. Registries are multiplying — publish once, syndicate everywhere.
Agent registries are where the web's directory wars were in 1996. Nobody knows which one wins. Listing costs almost nothing. Being findable when agents start shopping for capabilities is the whole game.
