Nobody is forcing you to eat the cheese. But a certification that lets more Americans eat the same product isn't something sinister. It's a food certification.

@iblgharper I'm not balking at anyone who wants to boycott for this reason. I just wanted to clarify....they do not make their cheese any differently than 90% of US cheese makers, and not all of their products are certified Halal.

@1800factsmatter This is just marketing. An American company is trying to compete in an unfortunate market. They didnt change the way they make the cheese and the revolting part of 'halal' is not a factor. Will not boycott. Best cheese.

Halal and Kosher are the same thing, just for different religions. So is Tillamook going to put a 'Kosher' label on its cheese as well? If not, then why not?
Just remember- they pay Muslim Clerics to have things made and killed to Halal standards. Wonder where in the Mideast those clerics send a percentage and how much goes into US elections?
Tillamook didn’t just slap a new symbol on the package.
The company changed its cheesemaking process years ago, switching to a vegetarian rennet that carries Halal certification. Today, Tillamook says the majority of its cheeses are Halal certified.
That was a deliberate business decision to make the product meet Islamic dietary standards.
They’re free to do it.
