The Snohomish County Public Works Environmental Cleanup and Litter Wranglers teams were on Green Mountain this week picking up nearly four tons of garbage, scrap metal and other debris collected by the Shop Night Gamblers and Gambler 500 groups during their 2nd Annual Green Mountain Spring Cleanup on May 30th. The county thanks these awesome community-minded groups and the U.S. Forest Service for their commitment to keeping our public lands looking beautiful.

🏘️ A safer community doesn't happen by accident. It happens because people decide to build one.

That's exactly what this community did. Through a CAL FIRE-funded fuel break project, landowners in Spanish Flat in north El Dorado County worked to clear, mulch, and create defensible space on a large scale. When wildfire came, firefighters had a safe corridor to work from, and homes were successfully defended.
This is what preparation looks like. This is what working with your community makes possible.

UPDATE: Dawa Sherpa has been transferred to Kathmandu for further medical treatment after his miraculous survival on Mt Everest.

The 52-year-old Sherpa climber, who was found alive near Crampon Point after days alone high on the mountain, is suffering from severe frostbite and exhaustion. Details to follow!

I landed in D.C. tonight on @AmericanAir. At baggage claim, I received a notification that my luggage wasn’t on the plane—it’s on the next flight landing at 1 AM.

WTF?!?!

I went to baggage services, and they said it can’t be delivered tonight because it’s too late. When can it be delivered tomorrow? 12 PM, I’m told.

I have a meeting tomorrow morning, so what am I supposed to do?

I basically have two options:

1. Wear the same underwear and clothes to my meeting.

2. Wait around the airport for an extra 1.5 hours at midnight when I’m exhausted and have to be up early.

Sorry, but this makes zero sense. How do you just not put my suitcase on the plane? I checked in 1.5 hours before my flight—ample time.

The woman at @AmericanAir baggage services was extremely dismissive.

This is so freaking crazy. I don’t understand how they could fail to load my suitcase and offer no sensible, timely resolution.

My Apple AirTag also shows my suitcase is still at my original location. The baggage lady assured me it shows on their end that it’s on the later flight and that Apple tags sometimes aren’t updated. I guess we’ll find out in 45 minutes…

Here is a photo of Dawa Sherpa who was found alive this morning, 04.06.2026 NPT, near Crampon Point on Everest while crawling toward base camp. Frostbitten, exhausted, and severely weakened, he miracolously survived alone for days after disappearing above Camp III.
