Big things are happening at Ports of Indiana-Burns Harbor!
@USDOT Secretary @SecDuffy got a firsthand look at one of the country's most strategically located freight hubs… and the transformation underway here is hard to miss.
From $100M in new docks, warehouses, and rail infrastructure, to the development of the only international sea-cargo container terminal in the Chicago metro area, Burns Harbor is emerging as a gateway for global trade right in the heart of the Midwest.
Ports of Indiana CEO Jody Peacock joined Secretary Duffy for the tour, along with Indiana Secretary of Transportation @matt_ubelhor, @SeawayUSDOT Administrator Mike McCoshen, port leadership and the team that makes it all happen every day.
The Great Lakes are open for business — and Indiana is leading the way.

🎉#HappyBirthdayStLawrenceSeaway⚓️
On June 26, 1959, President Dwight D. Eisenhower and Queen Elizabeth II officially opened the channel, with its first vessel being the icebreaker CCGS D’Iberville🚢
More than six decades later, the Seaway remains focused on driving efficiency, advancing innovation, and working with Canadian partners to ensure this vital waterway continues to support American jobs, economic growth, and national trade priorities.
