#660rn M6 Dr Jerome Adams US Surgeon General. Forging collaborative health partnerships with business, faith, education, public safety and national security to improve national health. We talk about lack of collaboration all the time. Hoping he makes a difference! @kathymb4
#N660rn M6 One word: Integrity. You either have it or you don't and people 'must' know they can count on you both professionally and personally to do the right thing every time when tough decisions arise and may be highly unpopular. Integrity creates immense trust. @kathymb4
#N660rn M5 Winkler, Dailey & Thomson 'bipartisan visionary legislators' state nurses should be in politics; run for office, contact representatives. Why? Because nurses have a good world view, are compassionate, caring, good listeners and make tough decisions. @kathymb4
#N660rn M4 Studies indicate improved patient health is realized when an effective healthcare model is used to help patients with chronic disease such as diabetes or COPD learn how to self-manage their illness. Psychosocial benefits alone are worth the effort. @kathymb4
@pfccadvocates Medical error 3rd leading cause of death in US despite years of improvement. Answer? Better coordination of care focusing on individual needs of each patient & their family. (The effect on patient & family can be terminal) #NUR660rn @kathymb4 M3
#N660rn_M3_ @kathymb4 Nice to have a one stop shop for those dealing with the stress of cancer, or any other debilitating disease process for that matter! Coordinated care is the ultimate demonstration of patient centered care; integrated focus on the patient!
Everywhere I go, I tell everyone – parents, doctors, community officials, etc. – that #VaccinesWork. They are safe and effective and a proven public health intervention. More from my interview with @HillTVLive https://t.co/m6GsC1aln1
4/? Opioids are STILL being overprescribed and inappropriately prescribed to too many patients, and the @CDCgov guidelines are an important way to address this. BUT... we MUST NOT hurt some patients in the process by inappropriately applying the guidelines.
Following US Surgeon General VADM Jerome M. Adams d/t addressing opioid epidemic, prevention of infectious diseases, and experience with Emergency Preparedness for Ebola, Zika and HIV. @kathymb4 M2 #N660rn
#N660rn M2 @kathymb4 Networking provides an avenue for those with similar interests to build working relationships which may be beneficial to individuals and the shared interest group(s). It may offer more collaborative work processes across interdisciplinary fields.
#N545rn@Prof_JStein M7 Our society has significant health issues and someone has to foot the bill. Policy often dictates who and how that will be achieved, and i would like to be involved. Also pushing APRNs Full Practice Authority to increase access to care nationwide!
#N545rn M6 CMS requires surgeons to exhaust all conservative measures before performing surgery to ensure necessity. Why not apply this practice to other practices? @Prof_JStein
#N545rn@Prof_JStein Headed into 2018 with 25 states plus D.C. passing full practice authority to Advanced Practice Providers! Up from 39% to 50% and growing c additional physician support.
#N545rn Choosing full practice authority for APRNs as my policy choice. Not all states have provided 'full' practice for a variety of reasons. @Prof_JStein
#N545rn I will be following Suzanne Smith CNO San Juan Regional Medical Center. She serves on many State of New Mexico nursing and hospital committees and actively reviews local and state hospital policies. @Prof_JStein
#N545rn My name is Starla practicing nursing as a Surgical Svc Director at a regional critical access hospital. Currently create/revise CAH policies. Desire to expand my knowledge of public health policy & how it effects rural populations. @Prof_JStein
#N541rn@VangieDowling M6 Excellent care and 'education' helps reduce readmits. Improve discharge ed c pts and caregivers. Case mgmt assessment is critical for follow up, but pt still needs ed c their validation of understanding.
#N541rn@VangieDowling M5 Increased need for diabetes health screening. Our county is 20% less than state of NM and almost 1/2 of the top performers, and Diabetes is prevalent throughout the county.
