@DropEditor@AndyG5000@ultimike (Sorry, the a/c got shifted without my notice. That was my official ID, speaking.) Coming back, this won't be much of a problem for Sans Serifs. Historically, most onscreen fonts are Sans, whereas print fonts are Serifs.
@AndyG5000@ultimike Discretionary ligatures, diphthongs, etc., were common in print fonts before DTP became fashionable. In letterpress, these combined letters reduced the number of lead types you picked and placed, and with Serif typefaces, the problem with ligatures intersecting was arrested.

Why do so many Indian corporations fail to localize (L10n) their call centers? When you publish print ads, you do it in every local language; when you broadcast radio ads, you do it in every state's language.
At least, you could arrange call center executives in the 22 official languages or pick a bilingual person who could use English as a link language to converse with non-Hindi-speaking geographies in India.
