I did not know, but am not surprised, that attackers and resellers are scrubbing the alias portion of email addresses. Luckily, other characters than '+' can be used with some mail servers :)
I've been doing this for almost two decades and highly recommend it... and I've been able to inform a few organizations that their user databases were compromised, as a result of knowing which org leaked the email address to which a given spam or phish was sent.
Email aliases can help users detect breaches early, and fight spam. But not all websites allow aliases, and they can complicate account recovery. Hereโs a look at the pros/cons of adopting a unique alias for each website. https://t.co/OZMNUO3kUq

"So, if youโd like to see what a network looks like when its users know security, know its challenges, should know better, and choose to ignore all of that anyway; join us for the RSAC SOC report." @CiscoSecure https://t.co/r0n39rc6sl
A large part of what has motivated me for nearly 25 years in the security industry has been helping people change for the better the way they protect their organizations. Stories like this make the long days worthwhile.
Shawnee Heights Unified School District 450 (@sh_usd450)'s Director of #IT and @CiscoGateway Cybersecurity Ambassador, @blairpanderson, worked with Cisco to secure roughly 5,500 devices using Cisco #SecureX! ๐ฏ ๐ ๐ฒ ๐ป

There was a time when most of the shining lights of this industry had questionable pasts, and also when a "questionable" past was more common than "outright criminal". Interesting glimpse into an old school blackhat's background and eventual maturation.

I've been proud of what we were building in SecureX since I saw early prototypes 5 years ago. We are changing the way people secure their networks, and sometimes the big game as well. https://t.co/djFZu5JUGe
I am simultaneously proud and humbled to have had the opportunity to work on and influence the development and direction of CRN's 2021 overall winner in the Cloud Security category, Cisco SecureX! Great work by an outstanding team.
