@standleague I have good German friends that I've known for years, ostracized, stigmatized and denied work simply because they were Scientologists. Do the lessons of World War II mean nothing? Thank God it's over, but the damage has been done.
@standleague@standmonitor And West Germany considers itself better than East Germany was, more fair and more democratic. And yet how different are these actions from those of the Stasi?
@standleague So let me get this straight: for 30 years the German government acts like the old East German Stasi, but only towards one group, and then they stop because they have no evidence, and not even an apology?!!
Germany spent nearly three decades treating Scientologists as constitutional threats.
After all those years of surveillance and investigation, authorities produced no evidence that Scientologists were ever the danger they claimed.
The allegations collapsed.
But the damage done to thousands of innocent people was real.

@alexeck Just like anti-immigration. Who's gonna pick the strawberries? Americans would much rather work at McDonald's then be bent over for 10 hours a day picking fruit
