Senator Danjuma Goje raised a motion today in the Senate stating that out of the 4.2 trillion allocated for the recently approved road projects, the Northeast has only two projects totaling about 19 billion.
He listed roads in the Northeast region that are in bad condition and in need of rehabilitation. In his motion, he urged the government to approve the rehabilitation of the deplorable roads in the Northeast.
Also in motion, he urges the government to extend the Renewhope Super Highways projects to the Northeast.

Abdulaziz Yari, the senator representing Zamfara West, has announced his intention to distribute 358 trucks loaded with a variety of food items such as rice, millet, sugar, and maize to the residents of the state in preparation for the upcoming holy month of Ramadan.
The Chairman of the Publicity Committee of A A Yari Political Organisation, Ibrahim Muhammed, emphasized in a statement released in Gusau on Sunday that the items would be equally distributed to all individuals, regardless of their political affiliations.
He mentioned that approximately 17,500 families are projected to receive assistance from the provisions that will be handed out in 13 out of 14 Local Government Areas in Zamfara state.
He clarified that over 98 percent of the items have been effectively delivered to different local government areas within the state, ensuring that the beneficiaries receive their allocations promptly.
The chairman of the publicity committee has specified that the recipients of the relief supplies will be individuals in need, orphans, widows, and divorcees.

BREAKING; Elder statesman and Billionaire, Alhaji Aminu Dantata has expressed his support for the shift towards a parliamentary system of government instead of a presidential system.
During the discussion on Thursday, Dantata expressed his view that the parliamentary system has advantages over the presidential system of government due to its cost-effectiveness.
The Emir of Kano requests that the First Lady kindly inform the President about the prevailing state of hunger in the nation.
The Emir also addressed the ongoing issues surrounding the proposed move of CBN and FAAN to Lagos.
He said: “Although we have several means of communicating to the government on our needs and requests, your way and means are the surest way to tell the president the actual happenings in the country.”
“The hunger and starvation in the land, though didn’t start with this government, but the situation has become worse and needs urgent attention.
“The issue of insecurity is another serious problem we are facing. I know your government inherited it, but something more serious should be done to take care of the threats.
“We are receiving a series of messages from our people. One of such messages is the much-talked-about relocation of CBN and FAAN to Lagos. I think the government should come out clean on this matter and talk to Nigerians in the language(s) they would understand.
“Do more enlightenment on this matter, I for one cannot tell the actual intentions of the government; we should be made to actually understand why the relocation of the CBN and FAAN offices now to Lagos.”
At least 1,500 members of staff of the Central Bank of Nigeria will on Friday resume at its Lagos office following their redeployment from the headquarters.
“Yes, the plan is still on and they will resume work by February 2, which is the first week of next month,” an official said.
The latest development comes on the backdrop of the decision of the new management to relocate some of CBN’s departments to the country’s economic hub for staff safety, increased productivity, and to decongest its head office.
CBN said the action was necessitated by several factors, including the need to align the bank’s structure with its functions and objectives and redistribute skills to ensure a more even geographical spread of talent.
It added that it was also in compliance with building regulations, as indicated by repeated warnings from the facility manager, and the findings and recommendations of the Committee on Decongestion of the CBN Head Office.
A memo issued to staff read, “This is to notify all staff members at the CBN Head Office that we have initiated a decongestion action plan designed to optimise the operational environment of the Bank.
“This initiative aims to ensure compliance with building safety standards and enhance the efficient utilisation of our office space.”
According to reports, the departments penciled down for relocation by the CBN governor Yemi Cardoso include Banking Supervision, Other Financial Institutions Supervision, Consumer Protection Department, Payment System Management Department, and Financial Policy Regulations Department.
Although the Northern Elders Forum and some other Northern groups had condemned the move, our correspondent gathered that the CBN governor was committed to implementing it, as it is expected to reduce the HQ occupancy level to 2,733 personnel from 4,233.
