Well, when a child is conceived, the DNA split is 50/50 from both parents. Except for one small detail: mitochondrial DNA. It’s passed down only through the mother and never through sperm.
Which means something interesting: all living humans can trace their mitochondrial line back to one woman, not one man.
And every daughter born continues passing that same line forward.
Happy Mother’s day
isn't it funny how we all wanted to be professionals with degrees and high paying jobs but now we just want slow mornings, good coffee and a regulated nervous system
I’m at the doctors and an elderly couple come in so I get up to give them my seat so they can sit together, and she goes “thank you, sorry I’m old and decrepit” and her husband immediately goes “AND gorgeous” omg
I am realising a little cheat code to life is always reading some fiction. Always have a novel going. Getting bored? Oh let me check on Shankar, the clerk turned hotelier in 1960s kolkata? Did he get a job or not? There should always be some story going on in bg of your life
my therapist told me, "stop assuming people are mad at you. Stop attempting to read people's minds. stop trying to manage the thoughts and emotions of others. let people be in charge of themselves. if they have something to say to you they will and if they don't it is their responsibility not yours. overthinking kills happiness" and that hit me like a brick.
There are so many more sunsets to see, there are so many more flowers to smell, there are so many more ice cream flavours to taste, there is so much more laughter to hear, there is so much more love to feel. There is so much more life.
Every child, based on their personality, requires different parenting styles.
Parents should tailor their parenting to their child, not a "one size fits all children" parenting style
