@NephthysPhoenix@MarkRPellegrino Yeah, burnout's a mother. Wish people wouldn't dismiss it so easily because she literally mentions she WANTS to work full time. She WANTS to accomplish things career-wise
@Devon_Eriksen_ Women don't want to be wives if only the husband's role is rooted in agency, leaving the wife submissive. Women are equally autonomous and as such, seek equal agency.
If women shouldn't be MORE free in spending their time than men, why expect the reversal?
@Devon_Eriksen_ A man wants to cook? He becomes a chef. He is free in choosing HOW to daily provide for his wife.
Women, in your framework, can't choose how to daily provide for their husband. She cooks, she cleans. If she chooses a job for herself, this is EXTRA labor
If you need a cosmic surveillance camera to stop you lying, you’re not moral, you’re managed.
Atheists tell the truth because integrity isn’t a threat-based contract.
It’s character.
@kalpalatalotus@suchnerve How the hell do you even manage to study (for decades!) and work a job you aren't passionate about? Call me blond but I doubt people are THAT disciplined
@lady_face6@MarkRPellegrino@PlnetPellegrino Hah! Yeah I do suppose I sort of walked into that one. Still it feels like something's not clicking for me... My gut's still telling me that a free market for healthcare wouldn't work out. I'll be sure to get back to it after reading that book
@MarkRPellegrino Cool. Care to elaborate further? Why is 'need' in quotation marks for instance. And what do I fail to realize? (I'm genuinely puzzled here)
@MarkRPellegrino@PlnetPellegrino@lady_face6 Something imposed on you by another is immoral (true) and you say the government must intervene. But through sickness your autonomy is impacted, too.
Why must government intervene with only one infringement on autonomy (aka force) but ignore the other?
@MarkRPellegrino@PlnetPellegrino@lady_face6 But I get where you're coming from. Taxation is theft, rights are absolute (thanks for calling me out on that one)
What I really don't yet understand is this distinction between force. Rights are built to protect autonomy (as I understand it - I'm not American)
@MarkRPellegrino@PlnetPellegrino@lady_face6 But if the farmer's sick, resulting in a botched harvest, how will the doctor eat? Will working on an emtpy stomach improve his performance? One can maybe live on their own, for their own, but to thrive people need people
@MarkRPellegrino@PlnetPellegrino@lady_face6 For a doctor to do his job, he can't concern himself with other things (like the article pointed out) Medicine wouldn't exist if doctors didn't have others growing their food, building their houses, cars, roads etc.
