NJ enters DROUGHT WATCH: NJDEP Commissioner Shawn M. LaTourette issued a statewide drought watch as of August 9, 2022 urging residents and businesses to conserve water as persistent dry and hot conditions continue to stress water supplies throughout the state.
WILDFIRE UPDATE: Wharton State Forest – Maple Branch Fire – Washington Township
@njdepforestfire is battling a wildfire in Wharton State Forest which has reached 40 acres in size and is 15% contained.
Crews have begun a backfiring operation to aide in containment.
This weekend, New Jersey Forest Fire Service deployed resources to Texas to assist the Texas A&M Forest Service with wildfire suppression throughout the state.
Currently, one Type 6 engine (pictured here), one Type 4 engine, and five staff members have been deployed.
WILDFIRE UPDATE: Brendan T Byrne State Forest – Brickworks Wildfire – Manchester and Woodland Townships
At 10 a.m. Monday, June 27, the New Jersey Forest Fire Service has achieved 100 percent containment of a 315-acre wildfire near Pasadena Road in Brendan T. Byrne State Forest.
