@drsue2014 And then of course there’s Parental Alienation where the state becomes complicit in the aggression of one parent towards another.
It’s a systemic problem and why we need a deep political and social reconfiguring.

This thread. IMO we vastly under estimate harm of removing a child from a loving parent. On the whole, if we offered resources & support to parents for a child to remain, we would reduce costs in terms of psychological harm & in economic terms, for child, parent & state.

@JulieMcNeil66 @lynnshelley5 @lokiscottishrap It’s not a criticism, it’s an explanation of the dynamic we all struggle with as parents. And being human we all have difficulty from time to time and lose it or tighten up. A better way for this discussion is towards supporting parents emotionally rather than pillorying them.

What ends up happening on isolating the child is that the parent, unconsciously (I add!), out sources the psychological functions that belong to adults to the child. Obvious difficulty for kids.
