Kind of crazy that our miraculous planet, one modulated by the very flow of carbon between different reservoirs (the mantle, atmosphere, oceans, life, and the crust) is currently undergoing one of the most profound derangements of its carbon cycle in hundreds of millions of years
@O_R_V_I The first phase of the PATER Study, released a couple weeks ago and assesses PA's grid infrastructure and former fossil fuel power plant sites for redevelopment, refers to H2 production multiple times. But there's currently no significant H2 production in PA...

Business Insider confirms it: Amazon has warehouses of GPUs that can’t be installed, and is buying them so far in advance that a supply chain team said they “didn’t have a clear forecasted path” to installing them.

“I think the data center demand [on top of LNG] will have a huge impact on the markets, especially in the winter”
Kudos to @CatalystPod for taking a careful look at the rush to gas (interconnection, geography, prices). No data center is “off grid” unless it’s off the gas grid.
Researchers with Scioto Analysis estimate that air pollution from data center power plants—including nitrogen oxide, sulfur dioxide, and particulate matter—could create $41 billion in health and environmental costs between 2027 and 2034. https://t.co/LuWvoUFX5R

Utilities are spending billions to provide power to data centers.
That's why our team at Cleanview spent the last month mapping every data center in America to the utility that will, or already does, provide its electricity.
Given the impact of the data center buildout on America's economy and power grid, you would think this data already existed. And it sort of did.
Publicly traded utilities disclose their data center pipelines in SEC filings, but they often don’t break down those numbers by the stage of development.
Utilities announce deals with hyperscalers, but they don’t share the total amount of power that will be consumed or when it will ramp.
Permits often show connections between data centers and utilities, but they are scattered in thousands of documents.
Over the last month, we went through thousands of these documents to map connections between ~4,000 data centers in Cleanview to utilities and grid operators.
Then we mapped utilities to their parent companies, which are often some of the largest publicly traded companies in America.
All of this data is now available in our platform, CSV exports, and API. If you’d like to learn more about Cleanview's data center tracker and this new feature, send us a note.

It's worth noting that PA Energy Horizons Cross-Sector Collaborative was consulted for this part of the study. They promote CCUS and H2 as decarbonization strategies while touting PA's Marcellus Shale gas.
@O_R_V_I Agreed. But it's concerning that the PATER Study of PA's grid calls out the potential of H2 production multiple times. Curious as to what they're alluding to.
Over half of American workers skip lunch on the job at least once a week due to sky high food prices or increasing job pressure, according to a new report.
Solar is the quickest to build 🏃➡️
But federal permitting bottlenecks are slowing the deployment of low-cost solar and storage and raising prices for American families. Every day Congress delays reform, prices, emissions, and grid instability go up.
