But they won’t tell you that:

- Messi is 39 years old and is still competing with a player who’s 27.

- Messi is playing alongside Lautaro and Nicolás González in attack, while Mbappé has Dembélé, Olise, Doué, and Barcola around him.

- Messi is expected to create, dictate the game, provide assists, and score, while Mbappé’s primary role is to finish the chances created by his teammates.

They also won’t tell you that all 7 of Messi’s goals have come from open play, without a single penalty, after years of claiming he relies on penalties.

And of course, they won’t talk about France’s path through the tournament. Instead, they’ll keep saying the draw was rigged in Argentina’s favor, even though Portugal themselves failed to beat Congo.

They’ll do anything to tarnish the reputation and legacy of the greatest player to ever touch a football.

Sports medicine has advanced so much that many professionals can keep playing till their 40s if they wish.

For a ‘genetic powerhouse’ like Messi, it also means there's a greater opportunity to break more records. Ronaldo will probably play till 44, and Messi will probably play till 42. And at good levels.

They still dominate games, they still make the difference. They are still the best players on their team. It's incredible.

These guys haven't only graced this game, they were blessed to bless football. They don't only have talent and skill, they're also incredibly available. They don't miss key moments. There's no grand memory that has been made in their absence. When it matters, they're there.

🇺🇸🇲🇽 | La FIFA prohíbe a los periodistas preguntar en español a los jugadores de Brasil y Marruecos a pesar de ser la segunda lengua materna más hablada del mundo por encima del inglés.

La FIFA autorizó a preguntar en francés, árabe, portugués e inglés, algo que supuso un problema tanto para los periodistas hispanohablantes como para Vinicius Junior, que habla español pero no inglés.

El capitán marroquí, formado en España, también se mostró sorprendido por esta inexplicable restricción.

La FIFA se ha excusado argumentando que el idioma «puente» escogido era el inglés, pero esto no tiene sentido teniendo en cuenta que tanto los jugadores brasileños, como los marroquíes, tienen mayor facilidad para hablar en español que en inglés.

Algunos críticos con la medida alegaban además que el primer idioma del mundo del fútbol es sin lugar a dudas el español y que por tanto este debería ser el idioma puente escogido para la gran mayoría de encuentros.
