My thoughts on Garnacho...
The DNA of United is built on academy players developing and growing into stars. At 20 he is exciting, clearly he has flaws, but who doesn’t at that age.
20-23 is maybe the most vital time of development for a player in his role.
Salah at 20: 5 goals for Basel in 12/13
Vini at 20: 3 goals for Madrid in 20/21
Bale at 20: 3 goals for Spurs in 09/10
Mahrez at 20: 0 goals for Le Havre in 11/12
He is very unlikely to hit any of those heights. But do we not want to see him try to do it in Red at OT? I would rather see him succeed or fail than sign yet another shiny new player for £60m.
I find this idea of selling him (potentially to Chelsea) depressing tbh.
🚨 Marcus Rashford’s camp had meeting with Barça director Deco today. 🔵🔴
It took place in Lisbon, as @tjuanmarti reports.
Barcelona are keen on signing Rashford and he’s open to the move, but depends on exits (Eric Garcia between Como and Girona and Ansu Fati’s situation).
Borussia Dortmund also still there 🟡⚫️
It’s always “Why didn’t we sign the unproven player?” (Huijsen, Caicedo, Haaland, Bellingham etc.) until it comes to actually signing the unproven player.
Our current best player was ‘unproven’ when he joined, while the majority of the Woodward-era flops were ‘proven’ at the time of their signing.
Please open your minds.
FIFA President Gianni Infantino (via Instagram):
"What an incredible honour and privilege it is for FIFA and me, as FIFA President, to be acknowledged by President Donald J. Trump during his victory rally speech in Washington DC. Mr Trump, your public show of support, as the new President of the United States, for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, in particular, is a moment of great respect for FIFA and also the continued growth of our game around the world. I thank you wholeheartedly and assure you that together we will ensure America welcomes the World and Football Unites the World."
