تشييع أحد الشهداء في زملكا انتهى بفاجعة ومجزرة جماعية، بعد أن قام نظام الأسد وجنوده بتفخيخ جثة الشهيد التي سلمها.

The internal security forces in Tartus are securing a demonstration, while sectarian chants can be heard behind them.

This is the new democratic Syria.
It would be helpful if the demonstrators behind them recognised that this would not have occurred without the Syrian revolution.

During the rule of Bashar al-Assad, demonstrations were met with violence and arrest. In contrast, the current Syrian government permits freedom of expression. It is imperative that this freedom be utilised to benefit the country rather than to spread hatred and sectarianism.
It is important to note that the protesters are from the Alawite sect. This is not to single them out but to demonstrate that the new Syria is inclusive and that all citizens have rights.
